My "minimum viable day" when everything feels overwhelming
The version of my day I fall back on when I don't have the energy for my usual routine.
I used to think that every day had to be productive to count. If I wasn’t exercising, cooking healthy meals, replying to every email and crossing everything off my to-do list, I’d assume I’d somehow failed.
But life isn’t lived entirely on high-energy days.
Some mornings I wake up already feeling behind. Sometimes work is overwhelming, I’ve slept badly, or my brain simply doesn’t have the capacity for everything I’d planned. On those days, I’ve stopped trying to force myself through my ideal routine. Instead, I switch to what I think of as my minimum viable day.
It’s not a perfect day, and it isn’t meant to be. It’s simply the smallest version of my routine that still helps me feel like I’ve taken care of myself. More often than not, that’s exactly what helps me find my way back.
